Orange, the French multinational telecommunications corporation, will officially launch Orange Egypt in the Egyptian market on Tuesday following its acquisition of all shares of Egyptian mobile phone operator Mobinil.

A conference will be held on Tuesday in the presence of Orange’s chief executive in order to launch the brand and have all Mobinil lines work under it.

Mobinil was founded in 1998 and has been one of Egypt’s leading mobile phone operators ever since.

In February 2012, Orange announced its intent to buy Sawiris’ biggest Mobinil share for about $2 billion. By May 2012, Orange acquired 94 percent of Mobinil and in February 2015, Orange’s ownership rose to 98.92 percent.

Orange operates in more than 28 countries worldwide, including 18 African countries, and is one of the leading companies in global telecommunications.
